Saihitsu-an is located in the middle of Nagamachi Samurai
District and is a representative of the buildings in the old castle town
of Kanazawa. It is now used as a workshop by Kaga Yuzen artists. Kaga
Yuzen is a technique for hand-painting kimonos introduced to Kanazawa
from Kyoto by the famed silk-dyer Yuzensai Miyazaki. Visitors may watch the artists painting colorful patterns onto silk, as well as receive an explanation of the minute work process involved in Kaga Yuzen. |
