This museum collects and exhibits articles that
are closely related to the lives of ordinary folk, including archaeological
material collected at historic sites in the city, and tools contributed
by the citizens of Kanazawa.
The museum building was initially constructed
in September 1899, as Ishikawa Municipal Kanazawa Junior High School II.
After the war, it became Shikindai Junior High School. Most of the building
was demolished during 1967 - 1969, although part of the building was preserved
as the museum. Ishikawa Prefecture designated the building a cultural
asset in 1999, since it is representative of the construction style of
the Meiji Era. |
