This temple belongs to the Nichiren school of Buddhism. It is also known as the Akamon Tera (Red Gate Temple) because of its red main gate.
A pair of giant Waraji (straw sandals) hangs at the gate, and Nio, the two Deva Kings, stand on each side.
Fudo Myo Oh or the Acala (the God of Fire) statue, donated by Jitsuse'in, the mother of Maeda Shigenori X in prayer for an easy delivery, stands in the temple grounds along with other statues, including those of Lord Kiyomasa and Queen Maya. The temple is dedicated to the masked dance-drama Noh, and contains the tombs of many Noh performers, ranging from Shisetsu, the head of the Kaga Hosho school, to Morohashi Gonnosuke, a Noh performer.
