The Asanogawa, which runs through East Kanazawa, is referred to as feminine in comparison to the Saigawa, which is known as a masculine river. Along its bank near Asanogawa Ohashi Bridge is Kanazawa's third-ranked geisha district, Kazue-machi, after Higashi and Nishi Geisha Districts. Many restaurants with traditional Kanazawa cuisine overlook the river.
